You don’t want to take mental health advice from just anyone.
For example—what about mental heath apps? Whether you’re looking for better sleep, a therapist appointment, anxiety or stress reduction, or help tracking medications—there are a massive number of apps out there that say they do all of these. But are these apps actually good and safe?
Or, if you get one, are you taking advice from people who know app programming, but aren’t qualified to provide actual high-quality evidence-based mental health advice?
Today I’m providing a list of psychiatrist-backed, high-quality, evidence-based mental health apps.
My friend is a psychiatrist with years of experience working in mental health at Hennepin County Medical Center in downtown Minneapolis. She tells me that according to this article on psychcentral.com, the apps below are the best, most evidence-based mental health apps out there. They’re backed by scientific research, have the best user reviews, are free or otherwise fairly priced, and have been carefully “vetted to ensure that they meet Psych Central’s medical, editorial, and business standards.”
Here’s the list:
Best overall: Moodfit
Best for therapy: Talkspace
Best for meditation: Headspace
Best for stress: iBreathe
Best for anxiety: MindShift
Best for sleep: CBT-i Coach
Best for mood boost: Happify
Best for tracking symptoms: Bearable
Best for tracking medications: Medisafe
